Health and safety statement

Pyrolave has a long history of quarrying lava stone to produce stone slabs or scants at their factory in Volvic France, and of manufacturing custom-designed enamelled pieces at their factory in Castelsarrasin near Toulouse. The company is committed to the highest standards of health and safety in all aspects of its operation, including mitigating the effects of natural stone's silica content. During all the processes of Pyrolave's manufacture, highly controlled safety conditions are employed to protect health and safety in the workplace. Our lava stone’s silica content is 57.5% but, like all natural stones, the amount of respirable crystalline silica – the minute particles responsible for silicosis – is only 4-30%, far lower than that produced by the processing of engineered stone which is more than 80%. Our distinctive enamel glazing and firing process provides an impermeable and durable coating to the lava stone once it has been cut, fashioned, and finessed to produce the finished pieces. The precision manufacture of each Pyrolave piece ensures their perfect fit at installation, obviating the need to cut or otherwise reshape the lava stone on site. This makes Pyrolave an ideal and safe solution for stone surfaces in a myriad of settings. |
